Volunteer Aid station assignments:
Scan down this document looking for the time brackets highlighted in orange. Those are slots that still need to be filled.
How to run an aid station:
If you are the first shift at an aid station, you may be arriving to an empty aid station or one that is setup already. Julie Kearin and Joe Kearin are setting up the aid stations just before they are needed. At the aid station there will be a pop up tent, a table or two, Two 5 gallon Jugs to dispense drinks (orange is Lemon flavored Tailwind electrolyte drink, blue is pure water.) Tailwind should be mixed at about 20 ounces of water to each serving of Tailwind that is put into the container. I will get a set amount per gallon of water calculated and posted here by raceday.
Familiarize yourself with the course map below so you can tell people if they as how far until the next aid station. There are only 3 aid stations. Mcmillin, Crocker and Diamond Detail. All the other course locations are just for informational purposes.
At the aid station you will:
Collect each bib number from each runner and write down what time they come through the aid station. (this is not critical to be down to the second.) To the nearest minute is plenty fine. This is mostly to keep people honest. (We need to write down EVERY TIME they pass through. ) 50k runners will pass through twice at Mcmillin and Crocker and 50 milers will pass through 4 times at Mcmillin and twice at Crocker.
Let people know which jug is water and which just is Tailwind and help them top off their bottles if needed.
Offer them food
Cheer them on!
